Luxury Flush Partners with Kling Street Kids
January 28, 2020Charity Donation
On December 21st, Luxury Flush partnered with Los Angeles non-profit, Kling Street Kids to donate a 5 station extended luxury trailer and services for their 17th annual holiday fundraiser focused on supporting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).
“Kling Street Kids began in 2002 when two kids, Cady and Callie, only 7 and 9 years old at the time, wanted to help cheer up children who spend the holidays in the hospital and the mission remains the same years later – kids helping kids,” shared Kara Barron, with Kling Street Kids. “Our December event focuses on kids volunteering and giving back.”
When the organization began, the Kling Street Kids started by selling coffee, doughnuts, hot chocolate, pizza and handmade reindeer ornaments outside their homes the mornings of December 23rd and 24th. Through the generosity of their neighborhood and the local Starbucks of Toluca Lake, they raised $549.57 that they donated as a Christmas present to the Los Angeles Chapter of Make-A-Wish. The next year, Krispy Kreme and Trader Joe’s also contributed, and the kids nearly quadrupled their fundraising. They decided to give the money to Children’s Hospital and began a new tradition of visiting on Christmas Eve to deliver the donations directly. This is one of the biggest highlights of the event itself.
“Kling Sreet Kids has grown year by year, with many additions including a host of sponsors, a silent auction, 10 tons of snow, live music, carnival rides, face painting, food vendors and the opportunity to sponsor a Pillow Pet and write a special message to be donated along with the stuffed animal to CHLA on Christmas Eve,” continued Kara. “It is very important and crucial that we get sponsorships as well as donations from businesses because we want to go into the event in the green. If this happens then we are able to donate 100% of the money we raise to the hospital.”
The focus of the December event is bringing the community together during the holiday season to be a part of something bigger and giving back to a great cause. Over the past 18 years, Kling Street Kids has raised over $230,000 primarily for CHLA (Pediatric Cardiac Unit) this year alone, they raised $32,500!
“We were so amazed and thankful for the generous donation from Luxury Flush,” said Kara. “We hope that this will start a relationship between Kling Street Kids and Luxury Flush for each year’s event.”
At Luxury Flush, we believe in partnering with local non-profit organizations and acting on the needs of the community by donating time, money and porta potties for events like Kling Street Kids. “It is humbling to be a part of a great organization and group of kids that desire to give back to other children,” added Louis Downey, Luxury Flush owner.

Luxury Flush Owner Participates in Week-Long City of Hope Fireflies West Bicycle Tour
For years, Louis Downey, owner of Luxury Flush worked for local fire departments which led to him working as a paramedic in the film industry. To promote his work, he created a website so filmmakers could connect and hire him. Years later, a google search connected him with an opportunity to use his experience to give back to the community in a unique way.
“A group of Fireflies West, cyclists who raise money to support City of Hope and blood cancer research, wanted to find a medic with a support vehicle for their big ride and they found me online,” shared Louis. “Here we are six years later and I look forward to this ride down the coast every year.”
Each year in October, as 50 cyclists journey the 550 miles down the Californian coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles, Louis follows them for the six days to provide medic support and other assistance as needed. Louis donates his time and enjoys this friendship that supports a worthy fight.
“Most of these guys have names on their bike of someone who is battling cancer or has battled cancer,” continued Louis. “On the last day of the ride, riders share why they participate during an open mic session. They tell stories of family and friends who have been on this journey of cancer. These guys have such heart and passion to help how they can. It’s an honor to be part of their support team.”
Each day of the ride consists of 70 to 100 miles, depending on the terrain. Riders pay their own expenses so 100% of the sponsorships they secure go to City of Hope and directly impact blood cancer research.
“This partnership is personal for me as my oldest son has type 1 diabetes. I participate in his honor,” shares Louis. “We all can do our part and this is something I can do to help.”
Luxury Flush Partners with the City of Pasadena

A few months ago, the City of Pasadena contacted Louis Downey, founder, and president of Luxury Flush. They had a request that he couldn’t refuse.
“Pasadena is providing shower trailers for homeless people in their city,” shared Louis. “They asked if we would service their multiple trailers throughout the City of Pasadena and pump them at cost. Weekly, Luxury Flush team members clean and sanitize each trailer in order to provide a clean environment for those who are using them and provides septic pumping for all the trailers. We are happy to partner with the city to help people who are in a bad situation.”
During Louis’ time as a firefighter, he saw many people who were living without a home. He met many people who struggled, and this is a way he can give back.
“So many people who find themselves homeless simply don’t have the support network of family and friends to help,” continued Louis. “Partnering to provide the dignity of a warm shower and opportunity for them to do their laundry is the right thing to do. I have a heart for people and we are supposed to love everyone – no matter their circumstance,” shared Louis. “We can’t assume that we know what someone is struggling with or where their story has taken them, but we can do our part to help and show love.”
Luxury Flush provides a variety of luxury porta potty restroom trailers, add-ons, and shower rentals, as well as daily and weekly septic pumping through their sister company, All in Sanitation.
